The national conversation this week is focused on electing a president. It will no doubt, be a week filled with controversy, anxiety and confrontation. As citizens of this great country, we need to exercise our obligation and participate in the democratic process. When you pause for a moment and let the noise quiet down, we must remember why we have that right and how we have the ability to exercise that right. Our ability to enjoy the freedom of democracy lays with the courageous few who served this great nation. This Friday, it our turn to recognize and remember those who served to preserve our democracy … the veterans.

Honoring Our Veterans on Veterans Day

Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November 11, which honors military veterans. A veteran is defined as a person who served in the United States Armed Forces. We have a rich history in this country of service, and Americans have served honorably throughout that history. It is estimated that 8% of living Americans are veterans. Their service should be honored and recognized. We owe a debt of gratitude to this Americans who answered the call and served honorably. Let’s never forget their contributions to our democracy.

    Celebrating the Holiday

So, on this Veterans Day, celebrate the day doing whatever makes you happy! It is an opportunity to gather with family and friends, celebrating well deserved time off. As you enjoy your time off, set aside a few moments to say Thank You for serving our country. Take a moment and thank a veteran for their service and sacrifices. Their service provided you the right and the opportunity to enjoy your freedoms as an American. We owe a great debt to those brave Americans that ask so little in return.
